On consolidated basis Quarter ended June 2021 compared with Quarter ended June 2020. Net sales (including other operating income) of Bharti Airtel has increased 12.18% to Rs 26853.6 crore. Sales of Mobile Services India segment has gone up 11.09% to Rs 14,305.60 crore (accounting for 51.39% of total sales). Sales of Mobile Service Africa segment has gone up 26.75% to Rs 8,177.30 crore (accounting for 29.37% of total sales). Sales of Mobile Service South Asia segment fell 12.50% to Rs 95.20 crore (accounting for 0.34% of total sales). Sales of Airtel Business segment has gone up 8.21% to Rs 3,789.30 crore (accounting for 13.61% of total sales). Sales of Homes Service segment has gone up 12.90% to Rs 653.10 crore (accounting for 2.35% of total sales). Sales of Digital TV Services segment has gone up 8.67% to Rs 809.40 crore (accounting for 2.91% of total sales). Sales of Others segment has gone up 2,025.00% to Rs 8.50 crore (accounting for 0.03% of total sales). Inter-segment sales came down from Rs 1,966.30 crore to Rs 984.80 crore. Profit before interest, tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has jumped 57.02% to Rs 6,051.90 crore. PBIT of Mobile Services India segment rose 847.98% to Rs 1,570.80 crore (accounting for 25.96% of total PBIT). PBIT of Mobile Service Africa segment rose 60.04% to Rs 2,594.30 crore (accounting for 42.87% of total PBIT). PBIT of Mobile Service S.A segment rose 85.00% to Rs -51.80 crore (accounting for -0.86% of total PBIT). PBIT of Airtel Business segment rose 17.58% to Rs 1,047.40 crore (accounting for 17.31% of total PBIT). PBIT of Tower Infrastructure segment stood at Rs 517.80 crore (accounting for 8.56% of total PBIT). PBIT of Homes Service segment fell 40.20% to Rs 95.20 crore (accounting for 1.57% of total PBIT). PBIT of Digital TV Servies segment rose 9.16% to Rs 301.50 crore (accounting for 4.98% of total PBIT). PBIT of Others segment fell 78.53% to Rs -23.30 crore (accounting for -0.39% of total PBIT). PBIT margin of Mobile Services India segment rose from 1.29% to 10.98%. PBIT margin of Mobile Service Africa segment rose from 25.13% to 31.73%. PBIT margin of Mobile Service S.A segment fell from negative 25.74% to negative 54.41%. PBIT margin of Airtel Business segment rose from 25.44% to 27.64%. PBIT margin of Homes Service segment fell from 27.52% to 14.58%. PBIT margin of Digital TV Services segment rose from 37.08% to 37.25%. PBIT margin of Others segment rose from negative 27,125.00% to negative 274.12%. Overall PBIT margin rose from 15.89% to 21.74%. Operating profit margin has jumped from 43.48% to 48.34%, leading to 24.72% rise in operating profit to Rs 12,980.30 crore. Employee cost decreased from 4.83% to 3.85%. Other expenses fell from 51.69% to 47.81%. Selling and administration expenses rose from 3.05% to 3.95%. Telecommunication charges fell from 41.70% to 37.46%. Other income fell 56.34% to Rs 209.8 crore. Provision for interest rose 22.26% to Rs 4225.7 crore. Provision for depreciation rose 6.74% to Rs 7713.7 crore. Profit before tax stood at Rs 1,250.70 crore when compared to loss Rs 256.60 crore. Share of profit/loss was 196.94% higher at Rs 494.7 crore. Exceptional gain stood at Rs 30.5 crore when compared to loss of Rs 11745.7 crore. Provision for tax was expense of Rs 834.5 crore, compared to Rs 3817.5 crore. Effective tax rate was 46.99% compared to negative 33.56%. Minority interest decreased 11.32% to Rs 657.90 crore. Net profit attributable to owners of the company stood at Rs 283.50 crore. Promoters' stake was 55.86% as of 30 June 2021 ,compared to 56.23% as of 30 June 2020 .
Management Commentary: Commenting on the performance the Company's MD & CEO, Mr. Gopal Vittal said, India is now recovering from the devastating second wave of Covid-19. I am enormously grateful to our teams who have lived the spirit of service in these difficult times and continued to serve the nation by keeping our customers connected.
Our consolidated revenues at 26,854 crores grew by 1106 crores over the last quarter representing a sequential growth of 4.3 percent while EBITDA margins improved from 48.9% to 49.1%. While our wireless revenue was impacted by the Covid lockdown induced slowdown in terms of device shipments and a financial squeeze at the lower end of the market, our overall performance reflected the resilience and strength of our portfolio.
We added ~ 5.1 Mn 4G customers during the quarter and our enterprise business in India continued to deliver strongly. Our Homes business grew by just about 13 percent over last year and added 285K customers in the quarter, the highest ever. We continue to invest in the best of emerging technologies, including networks and digital capabilities.
