China’s equity markets registered declines on Tuesday, as the Shanghai Composite shed 1.33% to reach 3,648.3 and the Shenzhen Component decreased 2.50% to 11,245.7. A downturn in technology shares pressured equities, notwithstanding robust industrial profit expansion and a favorable market reaction to the keenly awaited IPO filing from AI firm Anthropic.
Technology equities registered significant losses. Cambricon Technologies’ shares decreased by 5.68%, Hygon Information Technology’s stock price declined 5.54%, NAURA Technology’s value decreased 5.51%, SMIC’s shares decreased 2.70%, Zhongji Innolight’s stock retreated 2.94%, and Eoptolink Technology’s shares fell 5.60%.
China’s industrial profits advanced 15.5% year-on-year, reaching CNY 6.03 trillion in the first nine months of 2026. The expansion moderated from the 15.7% increase observed during the January-August timeframe, suggesting a marginal deceleration in profit growth.
