Chinese equities had mixed results on Tuesday. The Shanghai Composite rose by 0.20% to close at 3,940.6, while the Shenzhen Component fell by 0.52% to 13,703.2.
In August, China’s exports surged 25% year-on-year to USD 401.4 billion, up from 23.9% growth in July. Imports also saw a significant increase of 28.2% to USD 282.4 billion, continuing eight months of double-digit growth. The trade surplus rose to USD 119.1 billion from USD 101.1 billion last year. Trade tensions persist, with the US urging China to address trade imbalances and increasing tensions with the EU before an October deadline. Energy stocks gained, while some technology companies declined.
