Gold advanced toward $4,200 an ounce on Friday, marking a second successive session of increases as a depreciating US dollar and declining oil prices bolstered bullion. Silver also recovered toward $61 an ounce following a dip below $59 to two-month lows, supported by improving risk appetite and renewed industrial and safe-haven demand. Oil prices retreated after US President Donald Trump indicated productive discussions with Iran and precluded military strikes prior to the November midterm elections, alleviating concerns regarding supply disruptions and inflation. The decrease in oil prices further diminished expectations of an imminent Federal Reserve rate hike. On the MCX, December gold futures increased more than 1% to Rs 1,51,317 per 10 grams, while silver futures progressed 2% to Rs 2,24,672 per kg.
