Gold futures rebounded towards $4,200 an ounce in Monday’s electronic trade after weak US jobs data eased expectations of further Federal Reserve tightening. The US added just 29,000 jobs in September, while unemployment rose to 4.2% and annual wage growth slowed to 3.0%, its weakest since May 2021. Despite a nearly 7% September decline amid a stronger dollar and elevated Treasury yields, gold still gained roughly 4% in Q3, supported by strong central-bank buying, steady ETF inflows and elevated geopolitical risks that pushed prices above $4,700 an ounce earlier in the quarter. MCX December gold slipped 0.2% to Rs.1,50,072 per 10 grams, with the weaker rupee limiting its September decline to 4%.
