The key domestic indices ended on a mildly negative note. Nifty Metal, Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Realty shares declined.
As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, posted modest losses of 125.56 points or 0.17% to 73,123.83. The Nifty 50 index inched down 87.65 points or 0.39% to 22,600. In the past three trading sessions, the Nifty and Sensex eased by 1.26% and 0.99%, respectively.
The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index tanked 2.10% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index recorded sharp losses of 2.68%.
The market breadth was unfavorable. On the BSE, 1056 shares advanced and 4225 shares fell. A total of 175 shares were unchanged.
Eternal Ltd was the top traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 550.92 lakh shares and recorded a sharp spurt of 63.15% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has fallen sharply by around 10.98% in last one-month and has tumbled 7.28% over last one year.
Infosys Ltd was the second highest traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 330.44 lakh shares and recorded a sharp increase of 82.68% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has rallied 12.04% in last one-month and has plunged 24.54% over last one year.
Index action
The Nifty Metal index plunged 2.71% to 11478.2 today. The index is lower by 1.83% in last one week and has fallen 9.18% over last one month. It surged by 15.20% in last one year. Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 4.25%), Vedanta Aluminium Metal Ltd (down 4.19%), NMDC Ltd (down 3.67%), Vedanta Ltd (down 3.56%) and Hindustan Copper Ltd (down 3.27%) slipped.
The Nifty Consumer Durables index fell sharply by 2.63% to 33922.0 today. The index is sharply lower by 4.47% in last one week and has declined 8.23% over last one month. It has declined by 10.73% in last one year. Blue Star Ltd (down 4.19%), PG Electroplast Ltd (down 4%), Voltas Ltd (down 3.95%), Havells India Ltd (down 3.91%) and Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd (down 3.48%) dropped.
