The key equity barometers traded with limited losses in early trade. Nifty opened at 24362 and hit a high of 24365 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Media shares gained, while Nifty Metal and Nifty Auto shares fell. At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched down 246.93 points or 0.32% to 77,833.03. The Nifty 50 index posted modest losses of 71 points or 0.29% to 24,324.85. The broader market surpassed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged lower by 0.22% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index moved lower by 0.01%. The market breadth was well-supported. On the BSE, 1977 shares advanced and 1800 shares retreated. A total of 216 shares were unchanged. Nifty Consumer Durables index edged higher by 0.36% to 40449. The index has risen slightly by 4.28% in last one month and inched up 8.78% over last one year. Bata India, up 4.58%, led the gainers followed by LG Electronics, inching higher 4.51% and Voltas, edging up 1.11%, respectively. Out of 13 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today. Nifty Media index moved higher by 0.04% to 1576. The index has moved higher by 3.94% in last one month and posted modest losses of 5.24% over last one year. Prime Focus, gaining 1%, led the gainers followed by PVR Inox, adding 0.80% and Nazara Technolo., up 0.72%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 4 are reporting gains today. Nifty Metal index slipped 1.12%. The index has posted modest gains of 3.43% in last one month and recorded robust gains of 39.46% over last one year. Natl. Aluminium, moving lower 5.83%, led the losers followed by Hindustan Zinc, edging lower 2.83% and Hindustan Copper, easing 2.19%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 12 are reporting loss today. In NIFTY500, Welspun Living is the top gainer today, skyrocketing 8.95% to Rs 174.10. The counter is sharply higher by 39.72% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 155136.50 in last five sessions compared to 142600.79 over last one month. Asian markets were marginally lower on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is down 0.21%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 1.01%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is modestly higher by 0.50%.
