The key equity barometers traded with marginal gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24606-24515. Nifty IT, Nifty PSU Bank and BSE 250 SmallCap shares advanced, while Nifty Media shares declined. NIFTY inched higher by 0.91% in last session and climbed 2.17% over last one-week. At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, rose 676.48 points or 0.87% to 78,771.12. The Nifty 50 index advanced 213.40 points or 0.88% to 24,597. The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index increased by 0.97% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index gained 1.49%. The market breadth was encouraging. On the BSE, 3455 shares advanced and 1427 shares declined. A total of 254 shares were unchanged. Nifty IT index rose 1.96% to 31311. The index has soared 16.77% in last one month and retreated 13.01% over last one year. LTM, climbing 7.33%, led the gainers followed by Infosys, inching higher 2.96% and TCS, up 2.78%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today. Nifty PSU Bank index climbed 1.76% to 8515. The index has slipped by 1.48% in last one month and spiked 22.13% over last one year. Pun. & Sind Bank, adding 2.46%, led the gainers followed by SBI, edging up 2.01% and Union Bank (I), gaining 1.99%, respectively. All 12 constituents are advancing today. Nifty Media index fell 2%. The index has added 9.49% in last one month and moved lower by 0.47% over last one year. Zee Entertainmen, crashing 11.39%, led the loosers followed by Sun TV Network, down 0.40% and Nazara Technolo., edging lower 0.19%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 3 are reporting loss today. Asian markets slipped on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is lower by 0.73%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is slightly higher by 0.25%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading lower by 0.94%. In Europe, German DAX ticked up 0.72%, UK’s FTSE 100 eased 0.27% and French CAC inched higher 0.28%. In Commodities, MCX Crude oil slumped 6.68% to trade at Rs 8,096 per barrel. MCX Copper posted modest gains of 0.54% to trade at Rs 1,341.35 per kg.
