NIFTY edges up, Nifty Realty emerges as an index to watch, up 1.62%

The key equity barometers traded with slight gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23946-23696. Nifty Realty, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Chemicals shares gained, while Nifty IT shares fell.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, edged higher by 147.18 points or 0.19% to 77,065.03. The Nifty 50 index posted modest gains of 36.45 points or 0.15% to 23,847.30.


The broader market performed worse than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index climbed 0.89% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index increased by 0.96%.


The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 3189 shares rose and 1408 shares retreated. A total of 246 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Realty index rallied 1.62% to 855. The index has edged up 0.20% in last one month and retreated 13.14% over last one year. Lodha Developers, edging up 4.05%, led the gainers followed by Godrej Propert., gaining 3.06% and Brigade Enterpr., up 2.59%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today.


Nifty FMCG index advanced 1.07% to 46069. The index has moved higher by 2.24% in last one month and posted steep losses of 18.83% over last one year. Godfrey Phillips, adding 2.63%, led the gainers followed by ITC, inching higher 2.43% and Dabur India, up 2.43%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 12 are reporting gains today.


Nifty IT index moved lower by 0.87%. The index has jumped 15.02% in last one month and edged lower by 8.70% over last one year. TCS, losing 2.10%, led the losers followed by Wipro, easing 1.39% and HCL Technologies, edging lower 1.18%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting loss today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 12 are in green today. Nifty Realty index is marginally higher by 0.20% in last one month and has slumped 13.14% over last year. Nifty IT index has surged 15.02% in last one month and has recorded steep losses of 8.70% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, Yes Bank, Suzlon Energy AND Vodafone Idea are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 808.5 lakh shares, 1315.54 lakh shares and 428.68 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets posted steep losses on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly lower by 0.07%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is higher by 0.66%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply lower by 2.90%.


NIFTY50 Nov-26 futures are in discount of 22.70 points today.
