NIFTY remains flat, Nifty IT gains market attention as it moves 1.29% higher

The key equity barometers traded with marginal losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22758-22664. Nifty IT, Nifty Chemicals and Nifty FMCG shares advanced, while Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare Index shares retreated.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, up 66.14 points to 73,099.92. The Nifty 50 index down 5.05 points to 22,716.90.


The broader market failed to keep pace with frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest gains of 0.24% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index edged higher by 0.51%.


The market breadth was well-supported. On the BSE, 2974 shares rose and 1616 shares fell. A total of 246 shares were unchanged.


Nifty IT index advanced 1.29% to 30216. The index has posted modest gains of 0.93% in last one month and tanked 15.57% over last one year. Infosys, gaining 2.24%, led the gainers followed by TCS, inching higher 2.12% and LTM, adding 1.94%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 6 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Chemicals index rose 1.23% to 28708. The index has edged lower 1.40% in last one month and edged lower by 2.82% over last one year. P I Industries, edging up 3.37%, led the gainers followed by UPL, up 3.24% and Chambal Fert., gaining 2.67%, respectively. Out of 21 index constituents, 20 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Pharma index fell 1.01%. The index has drifted lower by 0.43% in last one month and recorded robust gains of 17.43% over last one year. Ipca Labs., easing 1.84%, led the losers followed by Divi's Lab., down 1.77% and Zydus Lifesci., slipping 1.40%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 18 are reporting loss today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 8 are in green today. Nifty IT index is modestly higher by 0.93% in last one month and is sharply lower by 15.57% over last year. Nifty Pharma index is marginally lower by 0.43% in last one month and has rallied 17.43% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, Vedanta Iron & Steel, IDBI Bank AND JSW Steel are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 2296.13 lakh shares, 5529.11 lakh shares and 59560.07 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets traded slightly higher on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai composite is modestly lower by 0.22%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading higher by 0.66%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is ahead by 0.72%.


NIFTY50 Oct-26 futures are in discount of 50.90 points today.
